Doc: Shark was a Great White

Unknown | 11:08 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Experts are convinced, says
honeymoon victim Ian’s surgeon

Great White ... shark 'undoubtedly' carried out attack

EXPERTS say the shark that killed British honeymooner Ian Redmond was a fearsome Great White.

Christian Renaud, the surgeon who tried to save Ian said marine specialists quizzed him over the Seychelles attack.
He also warned the maneater will return to seek more human prey.
Christian added: "They told me it was undoubtedly a Great White Shark."
The beast that mutilated Ian as he snorkelled off a beach had killed a French tourist there days before.
And Christian, who ferried dying Ian to the beach and tried to keep him alive, said: "This shark came here to hunt. He'll come back, that's for sure."
Christian and a friend were on a catamaran 20 yards from Ian when he was mauled in front of horrified bride Gemma.

A unity government in Malaysia - impossible unless Umno changes

Unknown | 7:03 PM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

There are many names and labels for it - a national unity government, a government of national unity, or a national union government. But basically, it means a broad coalition government, consisting of all parties or all major parties in the legislature or Parliament.
A unity government is also usually formed during a time of war or other national emergency, and involves the disbandment of coalitions and the setting up of a singular political entity.
In a unity government, there is no division along party lines nor any distinction of politicians but rather a single unified mind-set in governance. Truly unified governance also means there would be no such thing as a government or an opposition, just one big team.

Politics of deceits and lies & why we need first world politicians

Unknown | 6:08 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Malaysians must be careful with the growing deceits, lies and dangerous allegations and unscrupulous practices in our local politics.

The government must be careful too in reacting to these allegations. The normal respond of responding harshly to those who are seen as "outsiders" or opposition symphatizer may not help the government cause to act fairly and just.

BN slammed for dragging military into politics

Unknown | 5:57 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

There appears to be an attempt by certain quarters to drag the military into partisan politics - and this is an insult to the Agong, PAS says.

PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu, who is widely known as Mat Sabu, said such attempts smacked of demeaning the Agong as the military comes directly under His Majesty's purview.
According to Mat Sabu, the military, under the Agong and Malay sultans, has been doing a fine job protecting the country since Independence, without being involved in partisan politics.

Anyone who disgrees with BN is a criminal or a traitor

Unknown | 5:48 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Indeed the PM’s not so long ago war cry that UMNO will fight at all cost – even over crushed bodies and broken bones - to remain in power, is increasingly being observed to the letter. Today, Malaysians are being inundated with all kinds of threats, intimidation and strong-arm tactics to a point where we cannot anymore differentiate truth from lies.
And when truth and lies become clouded with political party priorities and ambitions, a society collapses into the trenches of socio-political and economic failures. The beneficiaries will of course be only those who wield control over the masses.

Esso's fire sale: Are Dr M's sons shuffling national assets, asks Anwar

Unknown | 5:35 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

The recent acquisition of Esso’s downstream assets in the country by Phillipines’ San Miguel Corp should catch the public’s attention on a few accounts.
The disclosed total consideration of USD610 million that is below Esso Malaysia’s current market value has sent its shares tumbling by 18% yesterday. While the sum may have been a bona fide amount decided on commercial grounds, the interest of minority shareholders took a beating when the deal prompted such a huge drop in share price.

Woman's body odour leads to divorce

Unknown | 5:24 PM | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Li Fan and Cheng Yuanyuan fell in love the moment their eyes met at a gathering arranged by a friend in China last year.
After dating for a year, the couple from Jiangsu province tied the knot but their happiness lasted for only half a day.
On their first night together, Li Fan detected a foul odour as he slept on the bed beside his wife.
He asked Cheng if the smell was from her, but she denied it at first and admitted to having a problem with body odour later.
Her answer also made Li Fan understand why Cheng had always kept him waiting for hours on their dates.
"Whenever I asked her whey she was late, she would say she was putting on make up but now I know the answer.
"She was trying hard to cover up her body odour!" said the angry Li Fan, who felt he was cheated.
On seeing her husband's reaction, Cheng took her belongings and returned to her parents' home.
The couple has not met since.
Two months after the marriage, Li Fan filed a divorce from Cheng at a court in Wuxi.

Take your pick: Electric chair or injection?

Unknown | 3:53 PM | | Best Blogger Tips

JARRATT, Virginia - Behind a blue curtain, the electric chair patiently waits its turn to take a life, but on this night in a chamber of a Virginia prison, murder convict Jerry Jackson dies by the needle.
"Fifteen days prior to execution, the inmate is asked which execution method he chooses," explains David Bass at the Greensville Correctional Center. "He may choose between the electric chair and the lethal injection." For the most part, Bass says, "they prefer the injection."
The man in the dark suit and speaking in a soft southern twang is all too aware that most of America's death row inmates pick the poison over the pulse of electrocution.

Ex-CID chief suspects Tajudin is being bailed out by Daim

Unknown | 1:07 AM | | | | | Best Blogger Tips

Prime Minister Najib Razak should rethink any kind of settlement with Tajudin Ramli or directing the government-linked companies (GLCs) to withdraw all pending law suits against the former Malaysia Airlines chief.
Former Kuala Lumpur CID chief Mat Zain Ibrahim said this was to ensure that the interests of the public are preserved, and not that of Tajudin or other politically-linked personalities.
“I feel there are 'hidden hands and old players' at work in the Malaysia Airlines scandal, and who are again involved in the recent 'merger' of MAS and AirAsia.

September a worrying month for Najib as Scorpenes probe pick up pace

Nine years ago in 2002, when current Prime Minister Najib Razak was defense minister, Malaysia ordered two diesel-electric Scorpene attack submarines from French shipbuilder DCNS as part of a naval upgrade. This singular event has since set off a chain of consequences that have culminated into a sensational story of corruption, murder and sex befitting a paperback blockbuster novel.
An upcoming investigation into the 2002 deal by a French appointed investigative judge aims to “get at the truth surrounding the commisions”, according to human rights activist group Voice of the Malaysian People (Suaram) director Kua Kia Soong.

Four army officers give damning confession of electoral fraud

Unknown | 11:54 PM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Four former army officers have appeared in public in yet another damning exposure of the country's electoral system, this time in the management of the highly controversial 'postal votes' which have long been considered the Barisan Nasional's vote bank.
At a press conference yesterday organised by PAS Youth's Central Democracy Restoration and Mobilisation unit, the four said they were once instructed by their superiors to mark thousands of postal ballots on behalf of other officers and their spouses.

Who’s calling the shots: Najib or Muhyiddin?

Unknown | 11:39 PM | | Best Blogger Tips

One moment, the Prime Minister surprised almost everyone when he suddenly proposed to form a parliamentary selection committee (PSC) to seek consensus over electoral reforms, in tacit concession to the heated demand spearheaded by Bersih 2.0.
But next moment – barely 48 hours later – he backtracked by saying that there is nothing wrong with the present electoral system, and that he only proposed the PSC because the agitators demanded for reforms.
Such flip flop coming from the flip-flop prone Premier Najib Razak should not have raised any eyebrow, if not for the lightning speed with which he made the reverse turn in apparent deference to his deputy DPM Muhyiddin Yassin who publicly contradicted his boss by saying that Malaysian elections have always been above board, and that the PM’s proposed PSC is only for the purpose of fine tuning the electoral process.

KUALA LUMPUR - The federal opposition may not participate in Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s parliamentary select committee (PSC) on electoral reforms if it does not meet its expectations.

100,000 instant citizenships: Can Pakatan still hope to win GE-13

Unknown | 1:56 AM | | | Best Blogger Tips

Nearly a week has passed since PAS vice president Husam Musa lambasted the government over the disclosure that 100,000 foreigners were given citizenships by the National Registration Department so as to qualify them as voters. As usual, not a single sound has come back from the Election Commission or Prime Minister Najib Razak despite insisting he was sincere to get to root of the votes fraud problem.
Strange that Najib is willing to set up a bi-partisan Parliamentary Select Committee but not ready to order an immediate probe, which should be simpler, to look into this seismic fraud allegation.
Husam had said Bangladeshis and Chinese were also among those who submitted their forms and were not subjected to any background checks, adding that the "conspiracy has placed the country in danger".

‘Weak’ Najib vs ‘disobedient’ Muhyiddin

Unknown | 1:17 PM | | Best Blogger Tips

Kita president Zaid Ibrahim says that all is not well in Putrajaya and warns the premier that he may see a repeat of the coup that sent his predecessor packing.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kita president Zaid Ibrahim suggested the possibility of a rift between Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak and his deputy Muhyiddin Yassin since the latter consistently contradicted the premier’s policies.
The former Umno law minister said voters could see Najib’s leadership as weak following the failure to discipline Muhyiddin’s open display of inconsistencies.
“Someone asked me if there is a power struggle going on in Umno right now. I said no, only in the Cabinet. This poser was perhaps brought about by the way Muhyiddin skilfully contradicted Najib on several important issues,” said Zaid in a statement today.
